just curious what you guys run in your cars. redline? royal purple? im picking up my car on friday and dont know a whole lot about rotary motors so im sure i will be asking silly questions along the way. bare with me

Well, the standard line is "Use dino oil because synthetics don't burn well." If you're not familiar with the engines, they burn oil by design to lubricate the tip seals. Some people feel synthetics don't burn as cleanly and leave deposits.
Learn all you can about the cars. They're fascinating.
Also: A rotary is best driven hard. Redline is not bad for them - rather, it's good (in moderation). Helps keep everything clean inside.
And, just so you're not surprised down the road, EXPECT TO REBUILD THE ENGINE. If you don't have to rebuild it for a while, great, but most likely you'll have to at some point. If you have the time/money, it might be best to pull it before it blows and rebuild it.

I just also got a rotary ('93 FD) and I have been using Mobile 1 10W30 synthetic and it seems to be running awesomely. Then again, my engine was just rebuilt 15k ago. From what I've been told, FD motors usually last till about 60k, but can last longer. I really don't know all that much about them yet, but I'm learning.
