metal shavings - best way to clean?

Short of sonic methods (which I don't have access to) what is the best method for cleaning metal shavings from manifolds?

Is a complete air and water bath about the best one can do?

I use brake parts cleaner it seems to work well

take it to an Automatic Trans Rebuilding shop and have them run it thru the AL safe Hot parts washer
