Maximum stock turbo boost?

Hello,
I have a 93 FD and for now I'm running the stock twin turbos with a power FC ecu. Unfortunately I don't have enough money to do a single turbo upgrade yet so I'm getting an intercooler and radiator and then I'm going to bring it in to get tuned. My question is how many pounds of boost can the stock turbos safely handle? By the way running them non-sequentially.

Thanks
John

14PSI Is max I believe. My stocks would run that much. Then I went with BNR stage 3 twins. which can go much higher safer. But are expensive.

depends on turbo's condition, modifications, airflow cooling capability, tuning and type of fuel used.

with the stock setup 14psi is generally considered to be max for the turbos. look in the 3rd gen dyno section and you will see people have pushed them well over that, but hardly stock to support it. most original twins these days will not do much beyond 14psi nor will they last very long doing it.

So it seems like the magic number is 14. Thank you, everyone, for the input.

For those of you who went with aftermarket twins, why did you choose to do that over a single turbo?

for most it is ease of installation, it is a direct bolt on turbo.

And to answer heryby question. Single turbo is nice and all and can produce good horsepower. But the fd is the first sequential turbo car. And the sequential turbo works really good. My boost kicks in at 1500rpm, and I cant maintain traction, so I dont have to drop the clutch on a high rpm when going against those 4wd peeps out there. A 500hp sequential turbo fd will beat a 500hp single turbo fd down the straight.

12 PSI is the safe Number . if you have turbo longevity in mind .

14 PSI is the effective turbo limit , past that you need improved cooling ( intercooler/meth injection or both ) because the turbo's will start to throw super heated air . so You need to watch you IAT .

BUT at 14 psi . it really depends on luck some people have ran them at 14 + psi for years . others have lasted 6 months.
