Max psi on components

This is the first in what will probably be a LONG series of what seem like newbie questions. I'll spell out why all of the questions before I get into it.

I'm looking to pick up a weekend toy (TII) and have certain goals for the car. Instead of just piecing together the car like everyone else has with the power outputs/quarter miles/etc., I'd like to do this one on my own. To do that, I have to do alot of calculations, make even more assumptions, and toss out ALOT of cash. I'm hoping at the end of it all (a numbers of years I can't even GUESS at), I'll have something that's unique, fast, and generally a nice car with alot of stories.

After that prelude, I'll get to the question at hand....

I'm looking to run some nice boost, but I wasn't sure what components can handle what levels of boost. Main components I'm worried about:

Apex Seals
Fuel
Intercooler
Spark

I'm sure I could get something fixed up to handle as much boost as I want, but realistically, I'm not custom-making any of those components. I was wondering what kind of pressures I could toss at a TII and have the seals hold, fuel covered, intercooler within efficiency, and enough spark to keep it going.

I'll upgrade each f them from the factory pieces, but I wasn't sure what aftermarket parts were made for each, and what kind of pressures people have been throwing at them without failure. Since I'm still doing PLENTY of calculations, I thought I'd post this and see if anyone cares. Thanks in advance.

Apex seals - stock is fine I've seen stock apex seals run above 20psi boost it is all in the tuning.

Fuel/Spark - go standalone I have a Microtech LTX12S with 2 MSD DIS-4 HO's but you can use the bosch coils that they sell for the MIcrotech and they can handle up to 500hp. Any of the aftermarket ems systems are better than stock it's all in your preference they are all good. Like I stated before it is all in the tuning.

Intercooler - I run an Isuzu NPR intercooler from a delivery truck I picked up for $250 works for me and they are good for 450wrhp and I've seen even higher numbers with race fuel and this same intercooler - 580rwhp.

Motor wise I'd go with a 13bre from a cosmo almost a drop in into a TII chassis. They are realitivly inexpensive can be found for $1300-$1800 range. I would rebuild it and clean the intake ports up don't even need to open the ports up just clean them up. Port open the exhaust because they are really small or exchange them with S5 rotor housings and open those up slightly match port them with the exhaust insert. Depending on boost pressures that you will run I would say you can make an easy 400rwhp reliably with this motor. You can get it pinned for high boost but if you can find someone with very good tuning skills I wouldn't worry about pinning the motor.

Turbo - I like Precision turbos I'd go with something in the T66 range with exhaust a/r in the .96 and up range.

Hope this helps you out a little. I know others will have different views but these are just some suggestions.

thanks a ton. there's some great info in there, and you even hit on my goal hp (400 rwhp). I'll be digging this thread up again later once I'm getting serious about buying some parts.
