Lots of smoke at idle

Can someone please suggest what might be wrong with my 1986 2nd Gen turbo RX-7. This is my first rotary car and so I know very little about them. I bough this car about a month ago, And it has run perfectly. However, two days ago when I went for a drive I pulled up at the shops in town (10 mins. from home) and after about 30 seconds idling it started blowing HEAPS of smoke from the exhaust and it smelt like burning oil. Since then, Iif I drive the car around there is no smoke at all, not even if I drive it hard. However, as soon as I stop and let it idle it smokes. Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Are you aware that there was not a turbo model in 86. Therefore if yours is a 86 and a turbo, then it is not stock. Meaning if the turbo conversion was not done right.... only bad things could happen.

Negativity not needed

I think you need to do a little more homework. This is a Jap spec 86 Series 4 13B turbo. I dont need your negative info, I need your help which would be greatly appreciated. Even if it were not a real turbo model a little thought into what the problem was would go a long way. I came to this site because a friend told me how helpful people here are, and as a newbie I thought I'd give it a try. This is a great site and I'm sure the people that visit are too.

wasen't ment to be negative. In your first post you didn't give much indication of how much you know about rx7's. You also said "This is my first rotary car and so I know very little about them." I was trying to get an indication of just how aware you are of your situation. If you would have said it was a J-spec s4 then I would have known that. No one is here to be negative.
Now I don't know exactly what would cause the heavy smoking at idle, but Im sure some other people here would. To get them to answer though you have to ask your question a certin way. Also once you get more posts and more involved the more likely they are to answer you questions.
