lots and lots of blue smoke help :)

Well i just got this RX7 for $400, it runs and rides great. it has just over 100,000 miles on it. Tho the car is spiting out alot of smoke, if take it out of gear and rev the motor up it will fill the lot with smoke. If this was my camaro i whoud put new piston rings on it, but that kinda hard on a rx7..
someone told me to put a new apex ring on. What is a apex ring? where is it? where can I get one? how much are they? what els can be worng with my car?

thanks

I think i am just going to buy a rebuild kit, whoud that fix it and come with apex rings?

are you new to Rotary Engine? If so, you have some studying to do. Usually a lots of smoke is bad engine in progress. There apex seal, side seals (compression) and oil rings.

Is it the turbo version? It didnt look like it to me but you never know sometimes.

It looks like the o-rings are shot or something of that nature, that's not normal at all!

Check for a vacuum leak on your sump gasket ...if you get air leaking in the sump gasket it allows oil vapour into the inlet via the emmission control system which usually sucks down a vacuum in the sump when working properly. Is your dipstick sealing???

Michael Smith
P.S. I had the leaky gasket problem that caused heaps of smoke on backing off the gas! Fixed the leak problem goneeeeee------>>>>
