just traded for a tII, need help
i just traded my 87 fc na for a 90 tII. the car doesnt run as its missing a few things, what i was wondering is there is a couple wiring harnesses on the passenger side coming out of the firewall. they are both round plugs, one is a medium sized 2 wire, the other is much larger with multiple wires (6 or 7 maybe). i dont know what those wires plug into. im sure ill post more here once i go through it more, i dont know much about the tII motor. any help would be greatly appreciated. tia.
ok, i looked up a fsm online. i looked over the car some more, when using a mirror in the bottom spark plug holes, on the rear rotor housing the apex seals are shiny (im assuming that they are contacting the housing walls and that they are good), however on the front, two of them look gunked up. ive tried using atf and marvels mystery oil (two seperate times trying to get them unstuck) and they arent freeing up. the car will "fire" with a little starting fluid, but it backfires out of the intake (im thinking a product of the apex seals). and even though the seals in the rear rotor housing seem to be in working order, i still dont seem to have enough compression overall. if i turn the motor over by hand, i can feel compression for a couple turns, then none for a few. i have yet to put a comp tester on it, which i will prolly do tomorrow. im just lookin for a lil advice on a direction to go.
ps, i think the wiring mentioned before would go to the abs system, and the charcoal canister is also missing. if any pics are needed of anything, just let me know and ill do my best to get them.

thanks for the vague answer, i have been searching every route i can. fyi i noticed alot of emissions stuff on the car is missing, but instead of asking im lookin up how to delete emissions stuff such as the air pump. all im trying to do is ask for some help from some people who are expiranced with these cars, but if all the answers im going to get are like these, ima just small block swap it.
ummm,
some members are a little harsh with new members with low post count, so I will try to help you out. first off, do a compression test this is the most important thing to determine the state of the engine. Do a search to find out the correct method. if the numbers are low then there are options.
if the numbers are good then the fuel system will need to looked at next. if it is truely carbon locked then there is a few different was to go. You have done the mm oil and atf soak with no results, but did you try to run it after that? if no then put 1 ounce of engine oil in front and rear leading spark plug holes, rotate it by hand several rotations, put the plugs back in and start it. once running keep it at 2k until it warms up a bit....it's gonna smoke a lot do not worry.
Once you get it to run my secret has been to use Mercury marine Power tune. you are the first one I am letting on to. Go to the marine store and get some, start engine, warm up and spray it into the intake while running at about 3500 rpm until it is smoking really heavy. Shut it off, let it sit about 1/2 hour. Pull the plugs and oil it again to insure a start. once it is running rev it to clear the smoke and go drive it, make sure you run it HARD, this will get rid of any carbon left around the apex seal grove area.
I have used this process several times on engines that were carbon locked and owners looking to do a rebuild, only to have a engine that has ran for several years after with no issues. give it a shot and pm me with the results
Snivley

well, i certanly appreciate the advice and ill give it a shot, im trying to atf soak it right now one more time, ill prolly let it sit until the weekend and see what happens, if by thursday i have no results due to the atf, then ill give what you said a shot and see what happens snivley. i took a look with a mirror at the apex seals through the leading plug holes, the rear housing looks like the seals are touching the housing (light, clean metal coloring) and the front housing looks like it has two stuck seals (gunked up looking). so im pretty sure thats my compression problem and i hope its fixable without a teardown lol.
