Jdm engine.. were should i buy? Or rebuild?

Im in the market for a 3rd gen 13b for my fd3s. Im thinking of ordering a engine set from ebay, but how long would these engines last? Ive heard of people buying those and only lasting 3k miles, Would it be better if i buy a blown engine and rebuild it? My hp goals are low at this time. Im new to rotary's and have heard bad things about theyre reliability. Any info would be apreciated.
