Intake Troubles

Ok im looking for a suggestion but before that let me mention the whole story. If this has already been posted i apologize i just need help. I recently purchased the components to setup an air intake on my 1988 RX7 Vert. I was trying to put it on (what a bitch) got it on and then it would run but not idle. Obvious Vacuum leak. With the Aluminum Intake Tube i Had, it was causing a leak right up by the throttle body. I then said screw this aluminum and used the original rubber intake hose solved vacuum issue but then arised another problem.....by still having the stock intake box removed, i had no place to hook up the air pump hose. Its still disconnected and im running it like that. Wondering if i should drill hole in rubber intake tube to make hose fit. Or, eliminate hose and use a breather filter on the air pump inlet? Just dont want my rx7 baby dying prematurely :-) somebody please help Email is XWildHorses39X AIM is XwildHorses39X so give me so input please
