Installed Exhaust what to do with the tube from main cat.
I just finished installing the Full Racing Beat Exhaust and The pipe that comes out of the main car is still there..What is ti called??I think the idle air return tube right?? Well what should i do with this.. and how would i go about removing it properly..Thanks..
What car was this on if its a 6 port NA then part of that tube led to the 5th and 6th port actuaters, do a search to find out how to rig somethinf up to make them open again that tub supplied them with exhaust back pressure that made them open at high rmp to allow more air in the engine some people estimate 20 or so lost hp with those ports not opening, you can wire them open but it will cause a loss in low rpm torque
Your fine, it doesnt affect your 5thand 6th port.
Do what i did and what most people do and just let it hang there.
Cut it right above the header, where that little metal flow thing is, right after that. That keeps stuff from going back up into the tube but air can still come out.
All it does is blow air into the cat to keep it cool and has sumthin to do with helping emissions. But if u dont have a cat now or went with aftermarket u should be fine without it.
