injectors, AFM, temporary fix?
I just put a rebuilt tII engine in my '88 NA. The person i bought the engine off gave me the wrong injectors... they all read 2.5 ohms. The tops are purple which i find weird because i thought the purple tops were high impedance. anyways, my engine will run on my NA 450cc high impedance injectors, what i want to know is will this harm my engine even if i dont go under boost? Also, to install those other injectors can i just put a 10 ohm resistor in each line and they'll work?
Because i put those injectors on, i hooked up my NA AFM hopeing the weaker spring would show extra air flow to the computer, richining up my fuel mixture, was this the right assumption?
I just want to know if it IS safe to run my engine on this setup temperarily, I just want to get it on the road so i can start breaking in my engine.
Also, does anyone know the proper amp rating on purple top injectors?

what ECU are you using? if its an NA ecu, with NA injectors and NA AFM, i think it'll be alright as long as you don't boost it*
if its a TURBO ecu, with NA injectors and NA afm, i think it'll be way lean.
the ECU's are ALL high impedance, so if you want to run low impedance, than you can just add resistors to bring it up to the 10-15 OHM mazda spec.
i would run the TURBO injectors.
*the 80's catech turbo kit ran a stock NA ecu/injectors with a bigger fuel pump and a rising rate fuel pressure regulator, so the NA ecu/injectors CAN do boost, but be careful!

I just plugged in my NA ecu to see what would happen, when i started it up i noticed a few things compared to the turbo ecu:
Noticably more backfiring (i do have 2.5"exhaust straight off the turbo so that makes) since there's more, wouldnt that mean its being fed more gas? more fuel to burn, more is left unburnt..?
Revved higher on startup
Exhaust didn't smell as bad (I would think that would mean LESS fuel...)
What do you guys think? which ecu is safer? or is neither safe?

If all your components (injectors, afm, etc) are n/a, run the n/a ecu. The turbo ecu calculates injector duty cycle based on 550cc injectors so if you actually have 460's installed it will be lean all the time. If someone says cook dinner for 4 people, but 7 people show up....get it?
