Inaccurate stock boost gauge

I suspect that my boost gauge is not accurate... someone told me that when the ignition is ON, with engine off, i should be at 0psi. right now it's at -20, and during acceleration i do not get much more then maybe 1-2psi

could it just be miscalibrated?

I think it has something to do with corrosion on its pins on the board. Assuming FC here.

A good aftermarket boost gauge s/b on your short-list so you have confidence in the reading for when you start playing with other things.
