check for ignitor power, coil power, coil switched ground or +5V signal from ECU

must have been ignitor. resistance on coils was ok. running again with tach but still has full throttle sputter. revs all the way at part throttle. could timing be off that much? thanks for the help.

The tach runs off the TRAIL COIL feedback signal. The trail coil is near the firewall, the lead coil near the battery. I write this because of your remark above about how the tach now works. Tach has nothing to do with the lead coil assy which you mentioned in your first post.

The ignitors get their ground from the base of the coil assy making contact with the chassis. IF you put a ignitor on a clean rag it will not fire.

Timing needs to be set with a cheap timing light that can be bought for twenty bucks.
