THIS was done, a tune up (timing),,and supposedly work on my STARTER.560.00 Altogether..I didnt think about it till later I DONT HAVE A CATALYTIC CONV..SORRY about the size of this THREAD.. MY FRONT brakes are locking up and when its WET (SEATTLE) i skid to a stop..WHAT should i be expecting to HEAR from a HONEST SHOP ?THEY dont make noise just skid when its WET..AGAIN SORRY about length of THREAD

not really sure what the rest of the thread is about. a lot of noise ... you're saying you got robbed by a mechanic?
anyway, about the lockup. my first two thoughts are:
1. check your tires
2. check your rear brakes ( stock '79 so i'm guessing you have drums???)
both can be done at home, by you, in your leisure time.

Tires would be my very first option , rememebr those 4 little black round things are what keep your car's momentum power , everything to the ground .
cheap tires tend to not be as grippy you need to do research when you buy tires next time .
tires are something that are always money well spent , get some tires that work well in the rain .
and you should not be locking up nearly as easy
