you should read boost on the gauge anytime the motor is under load. reving the motor in neutral will show nothing. accelerate and the needle should rise as the revs build, shift and back to zero then back up as you accelerate. if cruising under part throttle you may not read max boost or only a small amount. the turbo works under load and is rpm dependent.

get a real boost guage, don't bother with the stock one.
