How do BOV work and is ths ebay one oK?

Exactl as titled, im trying to figure out how a BOV works so i can get a good but price efficient BOV. I saw this one off ebay.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/_Car-Truck-Parts-Accessories__JDM-BLOW-OFF-VALVE-BOV-CAST-FLANGE-MIATA-RX7-RX8-MAZDA3_W0QQitemZ150296271283QQadnZCarQ20Q26Q20Truc kQ20PartsQ20Q26Q20AccessoriesQQadiZ2865QQcmdZViewI tem?hash=item150296271283&_trkparms=72%3A543|39%3A 1|65%3A12|240%3A1318&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245

i still have TMIC on TII. so I need a flange that will work on the stock ic setup.. any opinions, advice?

When the throttle is closed abruptly there is a pressure spike that has nowhere to go other than back to the compressor and slows it down and in worse cases can spin it the other way. This leads to increased boost lag when the throttle is applied again. The BOV vents the pressure into the atmosphere to prevent this with a springloaded dump valve. Its a simple device.

well from my understanding. Your turbo is building pressure and feeding it into the engine(while on the gas).if u didn't have a BOV, Once u let go of the gas the built up pressure would not have anywhere else to go and in a sence would start clog up eventually stopping your turbo from spooling. What a BOV does is, when u let off the accel. It releases the built up pressure while still keeping your turbo spooled.

Again this is my understanding of it.
Hopefully someone else on here can help me out

As for the one your looking at. I'm on my phone so I can't see it. but have a tail BOV if that counts for anything
