Hot tank or not?

I was talking to a buddy of mine that knows more about rotaries than I do. I was going to ask him if the rotors were OK to hot tank. He told me hot tanking ANY rotary engine part, including side plates, is not advisable.

What is a good way to clean engine parts?

Its OK to hot tank the eccentric shaft at least, right?

Im asking because a friend of mine gave me his s4 turbo rotary engine that has a blown rotor. It has been taken apart, and some parts have surface rust. I was hoping to just hot tank the cast iron side plates, eccentric shaft, and possibley rotors.

How come? Well, I talked to a guy at Mazdatrix and he said it was a myth. I was given some side plates with a little rust and im too lazy to scrub them
