Holley Jet Settings and other modifications

I've put a Holley 600 on my Series V 13B Bridgeport, was wondering if anyone knows good base jet settings for :

Series 5 Bridgeport, high compression rotors, ports very very large, end plates are near water seal.

The Holley 600 vac. secondary is completely factory. I've heard I need centre pivot fuel bowls, and possible jet extensions.

I want to know jet sizes, and possibly power valve, accelerator pump cam settings, vac secondary spring tensions, and any other modifications I need to do.

IIt also has trouble overlapping while idling.. any ideas ?

Thanks
Andy

Project sound very nice. First of all you need to buy the kit for the secondary it allow you to to jet the back plate. In the kit you'll get the metering and all the hardware to install it. Next thing get rid off the power valve and buy the power valve block. The power valve is good on V8 not Rotaries. The jets size should be from 70 to 80 in my 12a BP I was running 70P and 73S with timing a bit retarded and that was a lot of fuel. The Holley will work just fine the way just make these minor changes, the next you might want to do is the arm that opens the Secondary you might want put a screw in there to make sure the secondaries open at 4RPM. The 600 should be perfect for your BP I had a 650DP on 12A BP and I think it was too big but I manage to make it work. If you need more help let me know Holley is my thing. So the Jet extension you will need it in order to run it properly, the other mods not really. It will never run smooth and the transition when the Secondaries open wont be smooth as if it a Streeport.

Doesn't the double pumper Holley have centre pivot fuel bowls factory ?

This would be why you never encountered the surging problem.

What about my idle issue ?
Should I run it in and finish the exhaust first ?
Just doesnt pulse like it should.

Bridgeports always have a very unstable idle in my experience.

I would highly recommend an Edelbrock Carburetor. Much Much better than a Holley. Out of 3 of us who used Edelbrocks, none of us had to do any tuning or jetting. 2 were on Superchargers and 1 was on my N/A Street Port. Both S/C'ers were SP and they were both 12A and 13B setups.

I've had nothing but problems on my 650 Vacuum Secondary. Constantly adjusting the thing. I havent Touched the Edelbrock and its performed better than the Holley EVER has.

On another note, I used the biggest pump cam availiable (the brown one I think) and ran a .31 Power Nozzle. Otherwise I leaned out and stalled when I stomped on it. Very early power shot is nice. My Primaries were .70. My secondaries were untouched because I didnt use the Center Pivot Float conversion AND I put the lighest spring availiable in the diaphram for the secondaries. Another observation was that I needed to use a 1" open spacer to get the secondaries to respond properly.

If you stick with holley, go mechanical secondary. Saves a headache.

One inch open spacer ?

YYou mean between the manifold and carburettor ?

I have one of these, but the car seems to be very hard to start at the moment, with that in there, probably because its not run in.

At what point did the secondary's come on with the lightest spring ?

I want to try and get the vacuum secondaries running fairly well .. and I don't have the money to shell for a double pumper.

Bridgeports have an unsteady idle ? Here in New Zealand thats mostly all we have .. hundreds of bridgeports .. you don't get more consistent clean pulsing anywhere else !
