hks f-con s4 or s5
Hi
A friend of mine gave me an hks f-con its used but i dont know if its for an s4 or s5 and i have an 87 turbo w/ s4 engine if its for an s5 could i blow my engine? Also it comes with a biult on fcd with #'s from 1-10 what should it be set at? Are these units very safe and is it worth installing? thanks

they are good units. i used one on my 87 and 88 Turbo II for years. I think I had mine set at 5 with a midpipe, catback and intake (can't remember if i had a downpipe too). I'd recommend starting at 5 to see how it runs. I remember I tried running it one more and one less and the car sounded and felt happier running on 5.
Hopefully someone with a better memory than me chimes in here too.

F-Cons are better than S-AFC's
S-AFC modifys the AFM signal to trick the ECU into thinking it has more air and giving it more fuel
The F-Con modifies the injector pulse itself, and doesn't play with the afm signal which can screw with fuel cut and timing which is a bad thing. Also the F-Con runs a faster bit processor than the stock ecu and the car actually runs smoother from what im told.
The F-Con also has a pressure sensor so it modifys it due to the psi and not just RPM
One thing that the S-AFC can do that the F-Con can't is run larger injectors because you just run whatever % bigger injector and it makes your car run that. With the F-Con you would need a GCC to tune for RPMs, or something else to deal with the larger fuel injectors
And open up the top of the F-Con (4 screws) and there is a little **** w/ 0-9 on it. 0=stock and 9=lotsa fuel. thats how you change it.
Hope this helps
