Hissing noise
Hey guys. Thanks in advance for any help anyone can provide.
i got an '87 GXL N/A.
The problem is, my car will suddenly start making a loud hissing noise when i thromp on the gas, and i loses power it seems because of it. I thought i was normal until today. but doay i wasn't driving had, cause i noticed the hissing noise wasnt there; i stepped on the pedal hard, but not all the way, and the car was REALLY moving. but when i finally thromped it, the hissing noise started (its very noticble) and then the car seemed to lose a LOT of power. Anyone have ANY clue on what it is? if so any advice on how to reair it (for free would be best) would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks again!

it sounds like a vacum leak, best thing to do is have some one rev your car up to like 3k and hold it there and then srpay like water or brake cleaner all around in the motor bay and when the spray jumps up theres your leak, it could be the rats nest under the manifold and that is a **** let me tell you. My TII dies the same thing but im lazy and dont have time to fix it yet. you should get silicone hoses for it. Its 98.00 for the rx7store.net, but it is the safe way togo, just replace them all. the stock hoses get hair line fractures in them and leak under pressue and they harden, but not silcone.

hmm. never thought of the vacuum hoses. How hard exactly are they to get to? i've been under the hood plenty of times, but never took notice to them.
