Hesitation /stumble past part throttle.

So I recently picked up a 1990 rx7 vert auto because my girlfriend has always wanted an fc. I've tried to run through all the relevant tests to figure this thing out, but I'm kinda stuck now and don't want to throw parts at it until something sticks.

The car starts after a few moments and springs to life. It idles fine and will even rev okay below 25% throttle. Immediately upon depressing the accelerator beyond what feels like 1/4 throttle it will just die, if it was at idle. If I rev it up a bit and then depress the pedal it will catch itself eventually and stumble around barely staying alive.

Now for what I've done so far.

I have checked tps voltage warm and it was just a bit more than 1v on the low range. My understanding is that the full range tps is self adjusting through the ecu.

I've checked fuel pressure and it was just under 40psi and didn't dip at all when revving the engine out @ 1/4 throttle. I also didn't notice a significant drop in fuel pressure when the car was shut off and left for 15 minutes.

Now where I start to get lost its when I attempt to check codes. Upon jumping the single green plug to battery negative and turning the key on.. Nothing.. The check engine light status illuminated for as long as you care to look. Well I was led to believe through other forum posts that I could do something akin to the method used to check s4 codes, so with that I slapped some leds and resistors together and tried that... Nothing.. LED that I'm to understand is supposed to illuminate for 3 seconds or so then begin blinking stays lit forever.

With no headway made there I figured I may as well use my new led checker to see if the tps is adjusted. I plug in the anodes and cathodes in their respective plugs and find something even more peculiar, both leds lit up, with one blinking very rapidly.

So that's where I am. Not sure where to go from here, or if there is something I'm missing. I've a feeling the ecu is to blame, but I despise throwing parts at a problem.

If anyone has ANY suggestions id
