Unhappy HELP! Vehicle Title issue!

My dad gave me his 81 GSL which had sat in his garage for 12 years (unregistered and undriven).

However sometime within that 12 year span he managed to lose the title of the vehicle!

When he went to file for lost title the state (Texas) claims there was a lein on the vehicle from the bank he obtained the loan from.

This lein however has been paid off in full quite a long time ago, however since the lein was paid off and the car was never registered AFTER the lein was paid off the state has no record of this event.

The state wants a letter from the bank stating the lein has been paid in full, here is the catch....the bank went COMPLETELY belly up during the whole S&L scandel....we are not talking got bougt out...we are talking went UNDER. So this is not possible.

What can I do?????

Don't I have to have a license to do that or something, not top mention that we both have the same last name so i am sure that might raise some suspicion of something

Just go to the DMV dont tell them anything about the car just say you want to know what you need to do to put a lien sale on a car. ( if they ask about the car, just say there was a car left on your property and it's been there for almost year) They should give you some paper work to fill out then they send out paper work to the last known registerd owner telling them that there has been a lein put on the title of the car if no one replys the car is yours...probably save you hundreds in back registration fees as well (i want 10% of the fees saved...i take pay pal )...The DMV doesn't care who's car it is as long as it isnt stolen ... all they want is there money
