Help!! I can't get the tranny off the motor!!
I have been fighting this POS for a week now, and it is very very frustrating. I think if nothing else i may end up cutting the transmission to pieces.
Dilemma: I am parting the car out and pulled the motor and tranny together. Right now the motor is on a hoist, lowered so the tranny is resting on a jack. I removed the bolts to the motor, and this is the fun part.
I am aware of the collar that has to be pushed up into the pressure plate to release the bearing, but i swear this one may be messed up because it is IMPOSSIBLE. it will absolutely NOT push up. I watched a video on Youtube showing how it is done, but like i said, this one WILL NOT budge. I am wondering if it is because the bolts are out and there is about a inch gap between the block and bell housing... Would this create the problem? Im getting very impatient as it has been a week and several people are expecting photos of parts i can't send because this CRAPTASTIC problem.
Also, is there another way to get the tranny off? Can i unbolt the pressure plate somehow, or anything???
Any PMs would be GREATLY appreciated

I assume you're talking about an FD. I had this problem too.
The problem is you and I lol. The FD has a Pull type clutch. You have to use some sort of magical tool to get the clutch to disengage so that you can seperate the engine from the tranny.
I'm not being sarcastic. IMO, this tool is PFM.
