Help With compression result

Hi

My name is Andy and I'm new to this forum and rx7s. I need your help.

I am thinking about buying my first rx7.

I have seen one for sale its a 1996 model rx7 manual..

The seller has the following results:

6.8 6.1 6.9
8.9 8.7 8.7

All opinions welcomed

thanks

I'm sure someone with substancially more experience with these engines will be able to confirm or deny what I'm saying here.

I believe I'm right in saying the front rotor apex seals are in passable condition, as two of the readings show compression of near 7.0 kg/cm² while the third is low, if an apex seal were close to failure two chambers would be reading low together. To me this suggests one or both of the side seals are failing.

Rear rotor looks remarkably good by comparison.

This is all assuming the test was done correctly with the right cranking speed. From the chart found here you can see that a difference of 50rpm in cranking speed can throw off the reading by as much as 1.0 kg/cm². As your readings do not show what the cranking speed was, those results could be misinterpreted.
