help! '88 RX-7 no start! has spark at coil? spark plugs drenched in gas

I recently bought a '88 RX-7 in good shape with 101k miles from an impound lot for $225 dollars. It was auctioned off without keys, and when I got a new Dealer key made, I can't get it to start up.

I tested the Trailing Coil for spark and gives spark, and I can
smell a lot of fuel when I'm cranking the engine.

I pulled the plugs and they were soaked with gas.
I cleaned them out thoroughly and put them back in.
I've since not tried to start them because Im looking for some advice.
Should I try to start it with Starting fluid with the new dry plugs?
The engine has a healthy sound when Im turning it over.
Thanks,
Martin

your engine could be or could have just been flooded. i had the same problem with fuel on the plugs and i pulled the plugs and the egi fuses and cranked it a few times to spit all the stuff out of the engine and cleaned the plugs and put them back and it starts right up. i've had to do this multiple times.

Sakebomb.com makes direct-fit plus wire sets for the FC using MSD "super conductor" wires. When I did my research, the specs on these wires were better than the other options.

FC OEM Replacement Spark Plug Wires

I put them on my car and the stock ignition fires right through rich fuel mixtures and meth/water injection just fine, and I don't have interference problems. I can recommend them.
