Exclamation Help!!!

My 90 N/A is having some problems. The idle keeps jumping from 1 to 0 but never turns off, when i push in the clutch it makes like a weird chopping sound or like some thing is leaking, and lastly when i try to shift it doesn't let me put it into any gear at all. Any ideas on what is happening, or what i should do?

if the transmission shifts fine with the engine off but will not go into gear with it on, verify that the clutch fork is moving off the slave and if it is then the transmission needs to come out to inspect all the clutch components.

have someone press and release the clutch while you watch the slave cylinder/fork.

most likely, unless it's nearby and you can drive it there without stopping.

you can start the car while in first to get going then shift by rev matching without the clutch.

Update on the car. My friend came over and we started the car in reverse the car started moving made a weird noise then died. I turn it on again and I'm able to shift and move again. Is it recommended that I take to a shop immediately because i use it as a daily driver?

those are symptoms of the 2 parts i described, nothing has changed.

obviously you cannot drive it as is so you will have to either fix it yourself, with help or pay a shop to diagnose and fix it for you.

the FSM is downloadable from foxed.ca for free, everything you need to know about fixing the clutch issue is in there.

if it wouldn't go through the gears with the engine off then that would be slightly different, if you mentioned that then i would have gone into other possibilities.

but i'm glad it was an easier fix than the prior.
