Ghetto 4 rotor idea...

I've constantly got rotors running in my brain, and I was wondering something... I know the main problem on 4 rotor engines is the e-shaft. Is there a way to just make a coupling, like a u-joint or something where you could have them meet in the middle of an empty rotor housing or something? Sure, the engine would then be 5 rotors long, with two rotors, a coupling, then two rotors, but could that work?

You know I have been running a concept in my head as well for quite some time now. Instead of running an empty housing.....why not splice two shafts together. What I mean is the front of an e-shaft is already has a keyway milled into it...Why not drill the other e-shaft where the pilot bearing goes then ream it and mill a keyway into it, you now have a two piece e-shaft. From there you take 3 center irons and 2 of which will have to be machined to fit the stationary gears, some long tension bolts and a little experience with a mill you could have yourself a four rotor. Something like this guy is doing. https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...tto+four+rotor

They built a 4 rotor e-shaft. You can buy one, but I hear they are phenomenally expensive, like $50k or something insane like that.

Jeff Bruce in New Zealand makes custom e-shafts, relatively inexpensively.

Google granny's speed shop. They built a 4-rotor using a custom coupler. They even raced the engine in an outlaw dirt track car. I believe they have also included the drawings and measurements so you can get a machine shop to make one. Should be a lot cheaper than 7K + . Check it out

Has anyone actually bought one of those or installed a "homemade" 4 rotor in their car? Not including Scoot. I mean people, not companies.
