fuel pump questions

Has anyone installed a walbro 255 fuel pump in a first gen? Is it a big deal because of it being a in tank style instead of in line? Can you use the walbro as a in line pump?

Why would you go to all that trouble? The carter and holley pumps work fine. Unless your putting a FI motor in the car.
