friends 88 rx-7 gxl

can someone help me? my friend bought an 88 rx-7 gxl, i believe it sat for quite awhile(not sure how long). i guess it supposedly ran when it was parked, but the tranny was bad(not sure exactly what was wrong). the starter was out of the car, previous owner had a new one, we put it in the car, car does not turn over, you can hear the silenoid hit, but no start, a teacher at the local tech school said these motors were famous for locking up if they sat to long? we took off all belts and tried to manually turn motor with the crank bolt with absolutely no success!! if you push the car with the clutch in and then release it, all the car does is skid, soooo, it seems as though the motor is locked up, is there any help for this motor, is there a way to free it up, this teacher at the tech school said something about pouring oil into the rotor part and letting it set for awhile??? any one have any suggestions, comments or more questions for me??? any help would be greatly appreciated, as this motor is a completely different beast as to what i'm used to!!! thanks
