Fouled Plugs Leaving me DIRTY MAD!

I had my 12a engine recently rebuilt and bridgeported. Its in the car and running but the plugs keep getting fouled. I am running a mix due to the shut off of the oil metering pump. I have pulled the fuel cell to inspect the tank but the fuel looks clean inside. The car itself sat for a long time before the engine was rebuilt, everything besides the engine is pretty old. The mix ratio I am running is 40:1. I have taken the fuel cell out and run the engine off of some fuel out of a large glass jar (very redneckish) and it seems to be running great. Plugs clean so far. The engine would run off the fuel cell for a bit just fine and then after shutting it off and trying to restart it later it wouldnt start. Because the plugs are fouled. Any ideas would be great, or past problems solved please let me know. Ask questions or what have you and I will respond quickly, Thanks! With new plugs it runs GREAT, but after running for a while things get foul and it wont even start.

Ben

Reduce you mix ratio to 1 oz/gal. of pre-mix. 40:1 is way too high.

Thanks for the info, would a 1oz/gal pre mix ratio be enough to off set the oil metering pump being shut off?

That is the usual mix ratio. Same ratio I run in my 12A-1/2 bridgeport.
