FD3S automatic HELP!!!!

Okay, let me start off by saying i HATE automatics and yes, i always make fun of them and i told myself id never own one. But one day i came accross a insane deal on a really clean FD it was just automatic. i bought it anyways.

So now my point. This thing is supposed to have 255HP? the compression was tested at a rotary shop and they said it was good... but i mean come on, i cant even pull out onto a highway without worring someone is going to rear end me because this car has NO acceleration. the only time this car starts to pull a little harder than most cars is like 85MPH up to the 120mph limit. and thats another thing, i thought FD's go 160+... mine stopped at only 120 and held itself there.

Lets just put it this way... my 135HP 323 GTX is LOTS faster... so was my AE86 corolla... i got beat on the freeway by a freakin 4 door v6 pontiac with 4-5 people in it....

I know my car runs good, its all stock under the hood... sounds fine, starts up everytime... but this car cant even do a burn out in gravle... my old 84 celica had more accerelation than this...

can someone explain whats going on here? i know i should swap a 5 speed if im lucky enough to gather all the parts, and dont worry, a manual tranny swap is going to be the frist thing i do.

I just want to know why my rx7 only goes 120 and why i lose to daily drivers... and how come it has NO acceleration at all?!?!

Even for an automatic, in my belief an FD should perform beyond that. You must be having boost issues. Install a boost gauge and fix it before you embarrass us further.

oh, dont worry... i am not going to race this thing EVER again until i get a manual in it.

Im sure its boosting fine... but maybe youre right, i'll install my boost guage finally and see where its at, shouldnt it be around 10 psi or more?

Without a boost gauge, one cannot properly tell the proper operation of the vehicle but go with inaccurate assumptions. From what I read of your situation, you are absolutely having boost complications.

Normal boost pattern should be 10-8-10

and since you own an automatic:

Did you forget to test drive it, the deal was so good?

I agree that you need a boost guage to know what's going on with your engine. You said the compression was good, did the shop tell you the numbers (different shops have different opinions on what "good" compression is)?

120's to low

Have had my 95 Automatic, when was completly bone stock, up to 141mph. Now, has been three years since then and Many Mods later. This may have something to do with the fact that I am the only one that has ever own this car. It became mine at 27 Dealer miles and is kicking hard at 49K original Miles. You must be having some compression issues. Note, depending on year, my 95 Auto back then I can remeber that the were many things connected to taking away from the horsepower. Mainly AC runnning and more specifically a small compression leak.

This sounds stupid, but the day I test drove my automatic the hold button was on and it was stuck in second or third all the time. I hope you just haven't noticed this and its your problem.
