FD won't rev up more than 3000 RPM

I need your help. My mechanic can’t figure out why my car won’t rev up higher than 3000 RPM. Before the needle could reach 3000 RPM, it’ll go back down to about 1000 RPM. He just installed a rebuilt stock twins. He said replaced all the solenoids and vacuum lines. He said it could be because a midpipe was installed to replace the catalytic converter. But I don’t think so. Before I had all this work done on the car, it revved up well. The repair was done because of an oil leak in the turbos. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Your mechanic is an idiot if he thinks a free flowing dp will limit revs!!??
Is your CEL on? You can jump the ten and ground pin in the diagnostic box to tell you what is wrong.

^^^^ what he said.

If it idles fine and bucks and backfires when you it the gas, its limp mode. Just disconnect the battery, hit the brake a few times and reconnect battery, restart. This will clear any codes, and if it runs fine after that, recheck your solenoids, one of them is throwing a code and putting it into limp mode.

Good luck
