FC won't start...need help
i have a 86 fc. its current not working for a few weeks now. i've changed the alternator and battery to both brand new ones and its still not starting. a few weeks ago it did start but once it starts the car idles for about a few minutes perpfectly but then dies down afterward. i'll have to keep my foot on the gass pedal all the time inorder for it not to die down. i've been told it might be my TPS but i'm not really sure where and how to check it. anyone have an idea why my car might be dying out on me please let me know. also any tips on where and how i can check the TPS.
You need to set the idle per the FSM. It includes a correctly set tps, but that is not your problem. The idle NEEDS to be set with the initial set coupler installled OR the BAC plug disconnected. Idle set to 750-800 rpm using the adjustment screw on top of the dynamic chamber along with the variable resistor if needed.
Prior to that you should use a timing light to set the timing with a fully HOT engine.
The BAC will HELP control the idle speed but only if the initial idle/timing has been set first.
