Engine won't start
Previously I had a friend of mine tune up my car and check up on it at the shop. (93 FD with 66k miles) I've only had the car for about 3 months and the previous owner seemed to have abused it badly. When we took out the alternator and looked inside various areas in the engine bay there were massive vacuum leaks. As well as cracked or not even connected pipes/hoses. What I dont understand is how was the engine able to run with all these leaks and cracks? After we found these out the engine wouldn't start anymore. We did some silicone hose jobs but how come the engine won't start no more? Also before we took it to the shop during idles massive white smoke used to come out from running too rich. After the warm up the smoke would go away completely. Do you think the smoke and running too rich was caused by the vacuum leaks? Any ideas on how come the engine won't start?
