Engine Stands for 3rd Gen

Ok, so I yanked the engine yesterday, It along with the transmission are now out sitting on a palette. My question is:
I have seen a few people talking about engine stand adapter plates, why? Does the standard method for an engine stand of bolting up to where the transmission bolts up to not work? I don't want to damage anything, but Finding an adapter plate is a PIA
Thanks for any help.

Right, I checked out the one on Mazdatrix web page... Why don't they just bolt it to the back of the engine like other engines. I mean even the shop manual bolts to the side of the engine not the back. Why is that?
Anyway if anyone has the schematics of how to build one of these special engine stands (the top part), I would appriciate it.

you guys have to be kidding, right? bolting to the end plate, LOL. read the manual - -the tension bolts come out of the end plate and you disassemble working toward the front.
