TN Engine life when not running

Hello, so I've got a 93 FD, and was wondering how long the engine can sit without running. What are the steps to getting it running again? I heard you have to leave it running for quite awhile.

Every engine is different. How long are you thinking?

Most of the time sitting doesn't hurt the engine, it usually hurts all the other parts with fluids (mainly fuel system)

But like any motor that sits, its good to turn it over at least by hand once in awhile

besides what was said there are a few other things..... Its not bad to store it as close to professionally as possible. Start by treating the fuel with stabilize so it does not shelach and plug up stuff. storing a rotary engine that has carbon in it can be a problem........ usually when you run them a bit carbon is in the combustion areas. It starts out soft then gets hard. The hardened carbon can be a problem for apex seals. So once in a while start the car up drive it . Important is that when it is at operating temperature to spin the rotor at very high RPMs that should knock loose any stuck hardened carbon that could be a problem for the apex seals. Thats what I would do for a rotary motor that has been driven. If its brand new there are other problems but a hand crank and or rotation of the motor would do fine then. Just like a piston motor. good luck

You can also feed each housing some premix (or something like that) through the intakes and hand crank it to get everything nice and coated. It'll smoke like crazy when you start it back up, but that will help coat all the internals for a long storage.
