Unhappy Electrical

Hello all I have an 88' GXL and im having some electrical issues. The problem is I keep blowing the Illumination fuse, which keeps my instrument cluster lighting and tail lights from working. I realize that a short must be causing this fuse to burn but, I don't know what to do in order to solve this problem. Any suggestions as to how I can isolate this problem and repair it would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance-----Ren

Garfinkle said that he pinched the wire to the rear tag lights when he put the new tag on the car. check that pull your tag off and look around you never know.

If all else fails, you can always get electrical diagram from FSM
at www.fc3s.org under howto->manuals

or,
you could ask your questions on the 2nd gen. forum. Maybe you can get a more direct response.

you need to narrow down your search. you know that the short is in that circuit, so you need to see what is in that circuit. next you need to see if theres anything obvious (does everything work?). then you can start unplugging stuff. for example, if you unplug the taillights and the fuse stops blowing then you have a problem in the taillight circuit.

look in the manual and see what else is on that fuse. then you can narrow it down.
