difference between stock and 99 spec turbos

hey can anybody tell me how i would tell the difference?
i bought this motor from a guy.. its really clean and he claims its 99 spec..
i think he Fu*ked me on it.. i dont know how to tell difference..
if i need to i can post pics of them and you can tell me what i have..

ok.. i am looking for something i can tell like a stamped code, or how they are designed..
from what i understand they are bigger and flow alot better.. but how do i just look at them and tell the difference?

If you look at the inside of the compressor housing, you can see some of the abradeable seal, like shown in the above picture.
