crome plating

ok i am rebuilding my engine it's a 13b from a 85 GSL-SE. i got it apart and saw that the crome plating is gone on the very outter part of the rotary housings. i did some searching and couldn't find to much. do i need to buy new housings? i saw something on cermet coating. if i do go with that would it be hard to do myself and will it last .... im not really to sure what it is but if it is ok to do i'll do my research b4 i do it. i am working on a poor mans budget but i want to make sure what i do will last. any tips or suggestions are welcome. or just your thoughts on the subject. thanks

so i take it that it's not good to use and my best bet is to ship the housings off and get it done or just buy new ones. thank you for your help

Not necessarily. If you can post pictures, sometimes a little flaking at the sides isn't that big of a deal.
