Crappiest build?
Hey all! I'm trying to build some confidence with building this engine again, I'm in the middle of cleaning and some spots like the coolant seal spots on the 12a irons won't get PERFECTLY clean but I do remember seeing someone say "coolant seals are blind... they don't care if the surface is clean enough to eat off of, it just needs to be flat." based on that I'm not as worried on some of these spots, however I have also found some spots that the iron has some VERY tiny pin marks in the coolant seal area and I'm wondering if this will cause an issue with sealing? I was told to use some rtv on the irons when assembling to remedy this. I wanted to confirm this method and also get some info from some experienced builders that have toyed around with putting together some less than perfect builds whether that be "not the cleanest" or "not the most up to spec" and had little to no issues?
I basically am trying to gauge how bad I can **** up, not that I plan to lmfao but I feel like I'm spending too much time trying to clean certain things that might not need that level of clean. I have been watching the mazdatrix rebuild video and I got good info from there but that is obviously someone trying to tell you to build near perfection as to not have credibility issues.
Hope you all are having a good Thursday and look forward to seeing what everyone's input is.

Hylomar or rtv will solve that.
I've seen pinholes in brand new housings from Mazda that have been repaired with something similar to JB weld. I JB welded a few pinholes in the coolant seal area of my motor, but mine were casting issues where yours seem to be corrosion. I'd use hylomar and pressure test the keg before installing.
