Coolant overflow problem FC
I have a 1988 Convertible that just recieved an 87' Turbo engine swap. I've got everything in the car hooked up, except for the water thermo switch on the waterpump/thermostat. The original wire for the water thermo switch was brittle and ended up breaking off at the harness, so I had to run a new wire. BUT, I could not find the other end of the wire AT ALL. I've tested every wire in the harness and couldn't get continuity, so I have no clue where the wire is located.
I guess it was a bigger deal that I had thought.
Well, I got the car to idle after a few attempts this morning. Well it idled well for 10 minutes, then the overflow tank started to overflow. The gauge read 1/4th, so it wasn't anywhere near hot. I know there was a little bit of air in the coolant lines as well. Would air in the system cause the overflow tank to spew? To verify, I should be able to see coolant when I remove the cap on the water pump correct?
The engine had a full emissions removal when it was rebuilt by Kevin @ Rotary Resurrection, if that helps.
So far I know that I am an idiot, but I need some help. I've posted the same ? in the 2nd Gen section, but getting an answer over there is like pulling teeth.

my overflow fills up when the car gets to hot. if the thermo switch is not connected. the water wont flow threw there and it wont get an accurate temp. it'll only get the temp of the water from that spot. not the water in the engine. thus. you were overheating. and the water was coming out due to so much pressure .
i dont know for positive if what i said is true. its just common sence from me. most like anything you'll read on this forum

I figured it out. I am a huge idiot. Mega huge. I obviously don't know what a good radiator cap looks like. It was only half of the entire assembly, thus letting coolant flow into the tank by default without any regulation. So the tank just caught coolant and spewed out. So, ignore my stupid post. SORRY, I'm an idiot.
