confusion over the price of Viton

I've done lots of searches for info on viton tubing. People have said that it costs $2-$3 per foot, but it costs $8 a foot at http://www.mcmaster.com. Where are people finding it so cheap?

I just looked in a McMaster Carr catalog a couple weeks ago and it was like $2.25 per foot or something around there...

I just checked on the website you quoted and 4mm ID viton hose with a 1mm wall thickness ranges from $2.60 to $3.00 per foot depending on hardness.

The 1mm thickness hose is not thick enough. It will collapse under vacuum. You need to purchase the 1/8" thick wall tubing (english units only). The thicker walled tubing IS $8-10 a foot (or more).
