Changing Spark plug timing = more HP??

My friend was talking to someone about rotaries and he mentioned that changing the firing time (+/- 2 ms not sure which) on the trailing spark plug resulted in an additional 3 HP per rotor with the only downside being increased emissions.

Is this true? I was just wondering since my car's gonna be in the shop soon and they should be able to get this done for me while it's there.

Do a search for "advancing timing". There's a few pretty good threads on it.
