Centerforce Clutch

Will installing a centerforce dual friction clutch/pressureplate
result in a stiffer clutch pedal ? Should any of the hydraulics
(slave flex hose) be upgraded ? I have an 88 rx7 TURBO II.

the pedal may be a little stiffer because of the pressure plate. it depend on how much of a "race" clutch it is. if you want to upgrade part of the hydraulics, i believe mazdatrix sells a stainless steel braided clutch line. not sure how much it is. but its a good investment for sure, and might take some of the extra pressure away. but if you want my opinion on the clutch itself, dont bother with a centerforce clutch. get an ACT clutch. they are much better. i have heard nothing but bad about centerforce clutches. my .02

Well, the reason why centerforce clutch's are better than stock is because of the 'Centerforce' part of it. There are balenced weights on the fingers of the pressure plate. I have not noticed my clutch being any stiffer than stock, but grabbing MUCH harder. Plus the DF is really nice! I have not had any problems with my Centerforce DF.

I've only have mine a month, but I talked to another TII owner this past weekend and he's had his for 20K miles and no problems. ACT are suposed to be better, but I bought mine for $10!(Used on Ebay, low milage, guy blew an oil seal and sold the clutch. A little brake-parts cleaner made everything nice!)

Also, after close examination I have found out the pressure plate is basically stock, painted orange, and has weights on the inside. Same markings and everything.

its supposed to be orange, that means its a stage II or a dual friction. i have a stage I and it is gold. the stage IV is silver i think.
