carb adds 30 horse power?

I read somewhere in the forum that by swaping from efi to carb on a 13b will give you 30 ***** power. that doses not seem correct at all. so for you guys that have done it does it help at all? it would seem to me that you would have more to gain just tuning your efi? i dont see where there is a gain going to carb.

The biggest gains are simplicity and cost-related. I don't think that you'll gain any power, though. I suppose in theory you could on a turbo engine, since from what I've read you can safely run slightly higher boost with a carb, assuming it's properly tuned.

given that a good exhaust system is already in place, most carb systems will give you gains over the stock EFI because they will improve airflow with a better (than stock) manifold. i haven't seen or even heard of one system yielding +30 HP by itself though. perhaps you misunderstood what you read os someone simply lied or didn't know better when they posted it.

on another note, be sure to keep in mind that if you were to build an EFI system based on one of those performance carb manifolds (e.g.: Weber, Holley, etc.) the gains will likely be slightly more than the carb though.

yea i hear that it will boost power as well on my 12at project but i like fuel injected so it feels like a downgrade for me.

if ur refering to the racing beat site, i believe it states the holley kit along with their exhaust system will yield about a 30hp gain. but i'm sure with a free-er flowing exhaust and some upgrades to the efi system, u could get the same results or better on a stockport engine. certainly efi will yield better fuel mileage than a carb will.
