Probably have your alternator wiring fucked up.

Had the same problem with my 2nd gen after I powdercoated the alternator. It was no longer grounding through the body to the block. Ground a clean spot on 1 mounting ear, problem solved.

Check the ground wire from the engine to the firewall.

you guys think that it could me my ignition switch? Because when I switch it off it wont turn off. I was gonna take that out a check it. But I was gonna try taking my alternator out and changing it with another one that I have to see if that was the cause of it not turning off. Help me guys i dont want to take it to the dealer cause you know they are clueless about these cars.

That's what I was going to suggest. Maybe the ignition switch is messed up and isn't cutting power to the right terminals.

It is not the actual alternator. Relay switch, grounding point, or wiring. You have to think about what stops the engine from running. The ignition and alternator wiring is the key. Try and isolate the problem. Do you have a wiring diagram....I assume this is an FD.

Does it run the same after the key is taken out or does the the engine "stutter" a little bit?

The car runs stutters for one sec then runs fine again. But when you disconnect the battery it then stutters and go back to fine but when you step on the brake it stutters alot like its going to die. when the battery is disconnected that is. I tried to check the ignition switch key but That cant be disasembled its mounted and clamped on to the steering. I started my car and disconnected the harness clip and the power wire going to the alternator and the car still runs with the battery disconnected also. wired

if i were you id grab a volt tester and when the car is off take of your negitive cable and put the tester between the - post and your negitive cable this will show show you if there is any drain on the batt. or short to ground and then from there start tracing it from there. this is something you probably should deal with asap cuz it the last this you would ever want is your baby to go up in smoke. best of luck

Finaly tracked the problem to down. I found out this and to note for other people that might run into this problem. I ran through all the wires and checked which one was getting constant power when it shouldn't went into the fuse box inside the car and checked those and found that a blue wire was getting power constantly. I traced that down and it went to the fuse box in the engine bay. It went to the ac fan relay fuse. the fans were giving my car a direct power from fans fuse box relay to my inside fuse box and then to my ignition some how. I took off the fuse for the fans and went into my car and turned it off and the car shut off. Weird HUH!!!. the blue wire from the fans were giving constant power to my ignition switch through the driver side fuse box. that was how I solved the problem. YAHHHH MY car SHUTS OFF
