Buying a New RX-7 need Tips

I am going to buy an RX-7 1989 I really don't know what type of Engine it is but the Owner told me that it Hesitates when you change gears at 3200rpm it would just stay there and you have to gear down and go back to the gear agian to let it gear.

also when you start the car sometimes it would not start I have to pump the gas just for it to start.

Now I was wondering if it would cost a lot of money just to fix and also would it give me more problems in the future talking about Engine wise because I ain't really familar with Rotary Engines but I would love learn more.. And also you know how parnets are they just think you always going to have engine problems when you buy them like that .......I don't know if I posted right but if you guys could help me out I would happliy aprecated it ....

This is a pretty general tech question however you could go ahead and post most questions about this type of thing in the 2nd Generation, FC3S, 1987-1991 Model year section. You might get flamed so I will give you a forewarning, please use the search feature. In this particular instance you could search for "3800 rpm hesitation" for starters and you'll get a whole lot of informaiton about the subject. In short, if this is the 3800 rpm hesitation that is common among second generation rx-7s then it might possibly be fixed with an easy regrounding of the negative side battery terminal and the 6,7,or 8 other grounds located throughout the engine compartment. You can do a search for "electrical ground" or "ground modification" and you'll get a how-to for that. You also might want to check out the FAQ for the 2nd Gen. Aaron Cake, IceMark and a few others have put together a nice section there. You might want to check out www.fc3spro.com put together by Reted. He is another that us 2nd genners hold to a high standing. Hope that helps.
