Buying a new RX-7 Engine

Story begins with a 13b in our 83 RX-7 that blew a seal and took the engine with it. So we are looking to buy a new engine.

I found a guy selling a 13b he bought from Atkins 3 1/2 years ago. It has never been out of its plastic it was shipped in and has never been put in a car since he got it.

My question is...

Will this engine work, after sitting for so long without being run?? My husband is worried the seals will be 'dried out' if that term is correct?

What do you say? is there a risk in buying the 3 year old rebuilt motor that came from Atkins Rotary and never installed?

Thanks!

yeah it's fine, the seals that are exposed to oxygen are metal.
