BoV open at idle?
BoV open at idle?
Hey guys quick question... I have a Greddy type RS Bov on my 93 FD, I did the single spring mod as well as cut a bit out of the single spring left in it. The problem is it blows like a friggen hairdryer at idle.. if i crank the adjust screw down to where it shuts at idle I get some compresser surge, mostly at lower boost.... if I leave it less tense and open, it blows off fine when under throttle. Do you think i'm hurting the performance by having it loose like that? it should be closed under boost anyway shouldn't it?

why would you do that? BOV doesn't give you performance. i know you wanna look cool when you shift at vacuum to here the bov. i'm not an expert, but a BOV shouldn't go at idle. the purpose is to release the extra pressure when the throttle close. i think you cut it at a point that the spring doesn't serve any purpose anymore.
The single spring is soft enough that it will open if you don't turn the screw all the way down, and you cut a small portion out of it? Ideally you want the valve to be just about to open at idle, so hook up the BOV and start adjusting the screw till the valve barely close at idle.
