The waste gate lets exhaust pressure bypass the turbine when boost gets too high.
A boost controller makes that happen at a higher pressure.
The gain **** sets how high.

I am curious about this too... So if its not set properly it could hurt your turbo? I have never fiddled with mine. If you adjust it does the boost come on differently? Does it mess up how the car is tuned

^ Same boat. I have a MBC and i'm not sure if i'm operating it right. This is what I think (please correct me if i'm wrong).

Turn counter-clockwise (tighten) = less boost
Turn clockwise (loosen) = more boost

Not sure how it works in the EBC.

Not sure how it works in the EBC.

the MBC set up depends on wether you have a extrenal W/G or internal... best thing for you to do is get in touch with the MFR and have them fax you a copy of the manual...

as for the EBC... it will do two things... It sets the boost level and it also keeps the W/G closed longer to induce faster spool...

Lets say you have a 7 lbs spring in your wastegate... as boost is created the wastegate opens slowly... so at say 1psi the wastegate starts to open, 2-3 psi it's a little more open... and full open by 7psi

put a EBC in and set it to 7lbs, the max boost will still be 7lbs but the EBC will keep the W/G closed until 5-6 psi and be fully open by 7psi therefore it doesnt "waste" valuable exhaust gasses while creating boost

hope that makes sense

the gain set how quickly it starts to open... this is tuned to the turbo characteristics
